WAVE 1/20 H.A.F.S. Super Jerry — Pre-Order

Overview

Twelve years since the last run. Forty-two years since the tooling was cut.

NITTO released the Jerry in 1984. It has never stopped being regarded as one of the definitive Maschinen Krieger kits — not because it is refined, but because it is honest. WAVE's Super Jerry takes that original tooling and adds a set of dedicated conversion parts: additional front and rear armour, redesigned legs, and a triple rocket tube launcher.

The result is the heavy reconnaissance variant — a broader, harder silhouette than the machine it started as.

The same box builds the Gigant Floh.

I wrote the English release text for this machine for WAVE Corporation in 2009, working directly with Koichi Takazawa. What follows is adapted from that material.

The Origin

In 2884 the Nibelungen Agricultural and Heavy Machinery Co. took the drive system from the Ente — a bipedal farm tractor — and militarised it.

They sold it to everyone. The Mercenary Forces called it the HAFS Jerry. The Strahl Democratic Republic called it the JKA Floh. One machine, two names, two armies.

When the war escalated, the Mercenary Forces up-armoured and up-gunned their own version into the HAFS F.2 Super Jerry — heavy reconnaissance, fast and forward. Nibelungen took those upgrades back in-house, pushed them further, and sold the result to the SDR as the JKA Ausf E Gigant Floh: heavier, harder, built for the front line.

Same origin. Completely different jobs.

This kit builds either one.

Before You Order

This is largely 1984 NITTO tooling with a handful of modern WAVE conversion parts. Until I have the sprues in hand I can't tell you exactly which pieces have been reworked — when I know, I'll update this page.

What I can tell you: this is not a modern snap-fit. Adhesive is required. Rubber parts are not included. Brass mesh is not included. Expect flash, expect seams, expect to do some fitting.

None of that makes it hard. It makes it work — the kind of work that was standard practice before snap-fit existed. Plenty of people have built this machine. You will too. But go in knowing you'll be using older skills, and budget the time accordingly.

That's the retro build. It's the reason the kit is still worth having forty years on.
